The teflon rubber in my gear-shift rod disintegrated out of unknown reason. Anybody out there with expertise in refitting a new one? I made up a rather temporary fix with some garden hose . . .

Thank you Gentlemen, for all the good advice! I just simply cut 3mm off and glued the new rubber in! 😎
