Hi all I just went to install my new King pin bushes and noticed that there are NO radial gooves on the inside of the bush to facilitate the transmision of grease:confused: how does this work then ? ……cheers Peter

Hi Pete, while this won’t specifically answer your question, it makes interesting reading – particularly with respect to the pins having to be correctly oriented (“handed” is the term used in the discussion).
There are a LOT of things on 2CV’s which raise questions of “why did/didn’t they do it that way?”
Cheers, Geoff

there is a hole through the king pin it appears that grease is fed from the grease nipple into the hollow pin from the bottom.
two holes somewhat separated feed the bottom ie longer bush and two holes opposite each other feed the top bush….
if there is no groove on the inside of the bush it makes it very difficult for the grease to migrate around the pin… However I now see that due to the design it would be very difficult for the holes and a grease track to line up …
but I cannot understand what is meant when you talk about linging the holes up … As it turns out I did line the pins according to the pic in the manual, but I cant see the relevance … to my mind it makes no difference which way the pin is turned, only that the two holes that are further appart are at the bottom ……
perhaps I cant see the forrest for the trees cheers Peter

In both of mine when tightened it was 90 deg out so I put a fiber washer underthe cap which allowed the slot to line up and gave some room for the grease … i tested it all by squirting grease through the nipple and it could be seen cominup the inside of the pin …I then installed the welsh plug… prest done

New York USANot related to king pin bushes unless really badly worn but then it would wobble in other gears. I see plenty of really wobbly wheels weekly with little if any effect on the steering. You may need looking at shockies or internal steering rack parts (guide ring etc) What about the wheel bearings?
