Peter GibbsParticipantI finished the kingpin install today , I did note with interest that where the king pin is located at the bottom there is very little room for grease to travel from the nipple to the centre of the pin UNLESS the slot in the bottom cap is ligned up with the grease nipple. In both of mine when tightened it was 90 deg out so I put a fiber washer underthe cap which allowed the slot to line up and gave some room for the grease … i tested it all by squirting grease through the nipple and it could be seen cominup the inside of the pin …I then installed the welsh plug… prest done
Peter GibbsParticipantGeoff and thanks for the link , pity I didnt see it before I fitted them He dosent talk about the clerance , my shim stack was too thick, luckily I have a precision surface grinder and was able to take 4 thou 0.1mm off one of the shims to obtain 0.1mm clearance cheers Peter
Peter GibbsParticipantAign the Pins?
there is a hole through the king pin it appears that grease is fed from the grease nipple into the hollow pin from the bottom.
two holes somewhat separated feed the bottom ie longer bush and two holes opposite each other feed the top bush….
if there is no groove on the inside of the bush it makes it very difficult for the grease to migrate around the pin… However I now see that due to the design it would be very difficult for the holes and a grease track to line up …
but I cannot understand what is meant when you talk about linging the holes up … As it turns out I did line the pins according to the pic in the manual, but I cant see the relevance … to my mind it makes no difference which way the pin is turned, only that the two holes that are further appart are at the bottom ……
perhaps I cant see the forrest for the trees cheers Peter

Peter GibbsParticipantWell thats what I get for opening my mouth , a quick scan of the articles in the links by John indicate that the centrifical clutch is only good for 1st and 2nd gear…..sorry to get your hopes up , But I was thinking that the centrifical clutch coupled with a hand clutch or even a hand clutch might be the way to go …..or you could add a little vac pump or air compressor with a small accumulator tank and change with a button using air , as third and forth changes can be quick …. so install a trafficlutch for start up 1 st and second , wow that might even improve the perfromace 😀 then use the air to change to third and forth ….that could be a fun project…… if there is a will there is a way ….. how bad do you want a 2 CV
Peter GibbsParticipantPatrick I have read in a few articles that there is an centrifical clutch pack that can be installed that would be as good as an auto , … but where are all the experts Viking would know… but he is away at a rally , lucky B…gger cheers Peter
