From the seller:For sale here is a truly unique vehicle. Built in Holland by aircraft engineer, Rene Goedel and shipped to Australia for the 1992 “Raid Australia #2”. This is a faithful replica of the genuine “2CV Sahara” as built in small batches from 1960 to 1971 – only 694 were built and very few still survive. This car was constructed from an original 1962 2CV and has the added features: Front mounted standard 2CV 602cc engine and gearbox – driving the front wheels, Rear mounted standard 2CV 602cc engine and gearbox – reverse mounted, driving the rear wheels. Modified gearshift selectors and linkages to allow both boxes to be shift selected at the same time. Four inboard drum brakes. Both clutches operated by a common clutch pedal. Both carburettors operated by a common accelerator pedal. Independent ignition and starter controls – allows either motor to be used in the case of a breakdown (normally both motors are run at the same time). Facility for independent charging systems and batteries. Independent and selectable fuel tanks with fillers accessible through front doors. Spare wheel mounted in bonnet. Modified rear wings to allow easier wheel changing.
The vehicle has covered only 20,000Km since its rebuild in 1992, it has recently been completely rewired and the fuel tanks cleaned. The vehicle is mechanically and structurally sound but some body panels are suffering from body filler cracking and a bit of surface rust, but should be easily restorable as most panels simply slide off! Sadly, I do not have the time or space to devote to it now, so I am offering it to an enthusiast, Raider, etc. who can use and enjoy it as much as I have. While the vehicle is running it is not currently registered and would benefit from a good service so I would suggest a trailer or transport pickup.
Overseas bidders are welcome and I would provide assistance for shipping where I can. The vehicle can be inspected on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland – please call 0417834604.Further information on Raid Australia: http://www.2cv.com.au
