Hi all
I am just posting on behalf of Finn:
I have still problems getting my 2cv on the road.
All modifications has been done to the letter and I was going to get the modification plate but struck trouble. We were looking for a vin or chassis number.
I have a galvanised chassis, could it be after market and the previous owner did not get it stamped?I have the vin number on the import approval but nothing on the car.
Kind Regards
Finn
Can anybody offer any assistance?
Here is a reply from Bruce:
Generally when the chassis has been replaced the numbers are re-stamped just under the right cylinder head on the chassis; if there are none there, if he removes the seats and floor mat, there should be a plate on the metal just inside the chassis rail, it should be visible with the seats are out. Failing that you can buy the plate from Der Franzose and be clever and buy or borrow some punches and do your own using the import info, as I had to do with the Ami, you should copy another from another car though to make sure it’s in the right place. I will see if I can find a photo.
